While my cooking skills have increased throughout COVID, my ability to figure out what I can eat with ingredients laying around my house has not improved. Enter this clever product that allows you to text your ingredients and get back recipes. I've been using it for the last few days and it works like a virtual assistant to help me make my next meal. Sometimes recipes can be hit or miss but overall I've had a great experience! Great job, Cook Magic :)

I love that I can just text my ingredients laying around my house. During this pandemic as I run out of groceries or look for new inspiration, its tough to find recipes that have my ingredients so texting is really convenient.

Hi! The product seems great! I'm living in Europe is there a way for me to use it? Do you plan on adding a European number as well? Also, there are no TOS on your website, I think it's missing as well as a proper note on how personal data is handled. Congrats anyway!
Jean-Baptiste Bellande
And also maybe tell people under the number that some fees might apply depending on their mobile subscription. Sorry for the double post :x

@jean_baptiste_bellande This is great feedback the automated message has been updated as per the founder!
Alexander Haque
@jean_baptiste_bellande Indeed European support is incoming post Product Hunt! All SMS are opt-in and data is never shared. ToS will be updated. Great feedback and excellent catches.

@alexanderhaque Thank you for your kind words! I'm not English fluent so I didn't want to sound rude, happy to see that my message has been heard loud and clear =) Keep up the good work! What kind of tech is behind your service if I could ask?
Alexander Haque

no-app, no download but require American phone 😫 making me curious. looking forward to be inclusive.

@yellingbytes What region are you in>?
Alexander Haque
@yellingbytes We are rolling out support for Europe soon stay tuned! We think SMS is one of the most inclusive formats out there but it definitely has its regional limitations based on telcos and such...we're working with what we've got!
Aime Tubbs
Ha! This is pretty smart and neat. Is there a limit to the amount of recipes I can get?

@henry_ruth what api did you use for the sms?
Rodrigo Leles
Can I use it from Brazil? 😬

I've seen a similar concept a decade ago and lost it. I think it's a great idea, but I can't understand the logic behind texting the ingridients to a certain number. I'd rather give you my e-mail address and have an account, for cases when I have the same leftover ingredients as last week, I could go into my account and remember what I've cooked a week ago from them. This product can be used all over the world and the SMS plans differ from country to country, the Internet access is most likely to be anywhere depending on reception.

@evgeshanik You should check out Whisk.com/download which powers cookmagic. Sounds like you'll love the entire experience of saving recipes and being able to cook with them later :)

Kudos to the maker(s)! Really clever way to push recommended recipes to people in a non-app way. It also removes a huge headache with all the ad-bloated websites and cookbooks laying around my home.

Great work - looks great! Sounds like a perfect use case for OpenPhone - let me know if you'd like to check it out

I just tried this and it works better than expected! I texted 'chickpeas' and was sent a delicious Spanish Chickpea Soup recipe.

?makers My concern with this product is can people text preferences, like vegan or keto?

Seems to be US/Canada only? Maybe add it to Telegram or so? Make it a web form? Kinda tired of seeing US-only apps featured. Lovely idea though, my main problem when it comes to cooking. Just coming up with something fun to cook with what I have at hand... don't need the recipe, just interesting ideas.
Alexander Haque
@jonashaefele Agreed - where are you based? We are rolling out international support based on all the demand ;) You can text from anywhere to this US number but standard SMS rates apply so it depends on your plan. For lots of folks its included but yes unfortunately it is equally NOT included for many :/ Thanks for the love! PS built with simplicity of SMS / telegram works on a different model and webform could be supported but takes away from elegance of SMS. Can't please all cases...
Jonas Haefele
@alexanderhaque totally get it. I like a simple, clean product. Not overenginered or too flashy. Just annoyed at the amount of hunted products that are US only. Like there's a bigger world out there. I'm currently based in the UK. But I'm sure people all over the world would benefit from your idea. Hence the suggestion for an ip based messaging system rather than SMS. I know its a different api, but the product could look and feel the same and be accessible to so many more of us. I hope this is doing well, so maybe V2 can go international. 😉

excellent tutorial ... the program is excellent for me it was very helpful .... subscribe and have more information ..

The same thing in Telegram/FB chatbot would work much better as for me. I wouldn't worry about SMS rates and you wouldn't worry about adding extra support for new regions
Bertina Sutton
I want to try it immediately! Okay… at least as soon as I get hungry and check what ingredients I have on hand.
Sharfunnisa Quadri
i just texted some ingredients and got suggestion to make bread ... gahh no one needs one more recipe for bread
Greg Muller
How many ingredients should I put it? the whole house, just a few? I am not sure.
