Codepng allows you to create awesome snapshots from your source code that you can share on social media. Choose between beautiful hand-selected background gradients and editor themes before exporting your code to PNG images.
@zedtux Thank you. Appreciate the support! Currently the repo is private but I will most likely make it public in the future. I'll add syntax highlighting for Ruby next week.
@artur_carvalho1 Thank you! 🙏 They both provide solutions for the same problem but Codepng is more focused on quick and pretty hand-selected color combinations that already look good together while Carbon offers more customizability.
@nikkishum Hey Nikki. It's basically a WYSIWYG editor so you only get a PNG image of whatever you have put on the editor. So, unfortunately, it's not possible to create UI/UX with it.
@hugovntr Thanks, Hugo! Yes, I have some minor feature updates planned like the option to hide line numbers and the title bar icons. I'll also add some more supported languages like php, c#, and ruby.
@henri_parviainen Great! One thing you could eventually do, although I have no idea how long it can take, is a direct integration with an IDE. Having the ability to select text from the IDE and then run a command/script to automatically generate the image with the proper language would be an awesome feature.
But again, I have no idea if it's worth the trouble to make something like this as you just launched it. Maybe something to keep in mind when the project will be bigger (as I'm sure it will)
@anke_zabe Hey, you can create as long snippets as you like. There is no limit for the amount of lines of code. Only the width of the editor cannot be adjusted from the UI. However, you can change the width by changing the width of your browser window.
