๐Ÿ‘‹ Hey ProductHunt! Early last year, I built Cheep for iOS after my roommate @emcro (maker of CardPointers) convinced me how cool ๐Ÿ˜Ž building apps natively for Apple are. ๐Ÿ’ธ Cheap Flight Deals From Over 200 Domestic/International Destinations Cheep is an app that helps you find and discover amazing, really cheap flight deals --- and mistake fares that save up to 90% on tickets. ๐Ÿ’ก Inspiration The inspiration for Cheep stemmed over five years ago when I was a digital nomad, solo travel to at least one destination every other month. Many of the OTA would display the cheapest flight based on a single input of parameters. I faced the problem: how do I know if the flight is a good deal from the continent I was flying out from. ๐ŸŒŽ Experienced cheap flight hunter After traveling to 35+ countries, a pattern to how I searched for a good deal emerged. Ever since I applied that in practice when hunting for a solid cheap flight deal. The next problem is the list of places to explore was vast, and I didn't have time to compare which destination would give me the biggest bang for the buck. And so I set out to build Cheep to solve these two problems for myself, and hopefully, others will find it helpful too. ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ’ป Personalized Cheep personalizations deals from your airports of interest. So you can filter out the noise of regional flight deals and get only great fares that matter to you. ๐Ÿค– Automated Cheep is automated, searching over 300,000 routes around the globe a week. As a solo maker, I didn't have time to hunt and peck every route, date, cabin, etc. And then do the mental calculation on the cheapest flight to determine if it passes the test on a flight I'd personally book myself. ๐Ÿ”ฅ Deal Frequency Scaling allows for more flight deals and mistake fares to bubble up than a team of human fare finders. Flights, once they pass the test, are then graded on three levels, "Good," "Great," and "Amazing" flight deals. ๐Ÿค‘ Mistake Fares The real dirt cheap flights are considered "Mistake" fares which get their rare label. Behind the scenes, I put in a lot of hardware, time, and money to invest in Cheep. The journey of building the app was fun. Unfortunately, when I was ready to open for a beta to get feedback, COVID struck. And it's been in beta ever since. Europe is now lifting summer travel restrictions. Airlines are starting to raise prices to cover lost revenue from business travelers.  I hope that Cheep app will be helpful to you to get a raging great deal. If you do end booking a flight deal, shoot me an email at jc[at]usecheep.com --- love to know where you are going and how much you paid. ๐Ÿ™‚

@zahid_anwar Yep totally. One family trip I helped, they decided on a taking a domestic trip. Each head saved about $100 that the family of five save a total of $500 on a group buy which made a lot of cents ๐Ÿ’ธ

@leonidas_costas totally! I'm super excited to be traveling again very soon. Booked a few mistake fares it found since airlines are super relaxed on waiving change fees.

Awesome! Any plans for an android app soon?
Jonathan Chum
@sunny_dasgupta I've started noodling around with that idea... However, not sure I have bandwidth to support 3 channels (ios/android/web). For Android, for now, I would recommend using mobile web experience https://usecheep.com/ and bookmark it to your home screen. It should run as PWA (progress web app) naturally. If you run into any issues, shoot me an email at jc[at]usecheep.com

great app to check before choosing flight

@vivekweb2013 Thank you. For me, I love that I can just at glance, see what deals are available and easy rating badge to identify just how cheap a flight deal is. They are all good deals that passes my personal test when I search manually... just some are more heavily discounted when you compare each fare based on cost per mile.

Which plane companies do you mostly deal with? :)
Jonathan Chum
@benoit_chambon interesting question, I hadn't done that query before. I'm looking at the 500,000 flight deals published in the last 12 months, the top 10 are American, Turkish Airlines, Lufthansa, United, British Airways, KLM, Qatar Airlines, Air France, Delta, and Swiss. Personally, I don't have an allegiance to a specific airline. I tend to lean towards airlines that I can credit airline miles to loyalty programs that exist under Star Alliance or OneWorld. And then I use those points to book award tickets to destinations where the route's demand is high and good deal is rare to come by.
