Chatmate AI - Artificial people to be friends with

@chatmate_ai Curious, what compelled you to build this? My first reaction is that I feel we need less artificial relationships and more real human connection, and this seems to go in the opposite direction. But you've probably pondered this deeper, so I'd be interested in hearing your perspective.

@anup_trivedi1 Thanks for your feedback on that topic: First, the AI we use, GPT-3 is not really free. We pay quite a lot to use it (also makes sense, as it used a lot of computing power to train it, which somebody needs to pay for). And then, ChatGPT will also not be for free forever, they already anounced a plan of 20$/month. And search engines that gonna integrate it will monetize with ads instead of a subscription and also have a very different use case that what we offer: Chatmates AI use the same tech in the background, but the front end is an artificial person with a unique personality, properties and a simulated social context which is true for everyone speaking to that specific Chatmate. And this social context will also become more important as soon as we release the VR app to visit the Chatmates "for real". Then it will become suddenly much more than just a ChatGPT, as a Chatmate also have a history with you and will develop a very personal relationship with you... At the moment we just charge 1:1 our operating costs, that we pay to use the AI from OpenAI and the other AI we use for several other things like photo classification, voice recognition and generation, etc. Really good AI at the moment is not cheap, but we are sure those prices will drop quickly and we will hand this further to our customers. For the moment, you can see it a bit like an "early adaptor fee". Would anyone prefer a free model that integrates Ads somehow? Or what are others perspective on the pricing model? Suggestions welcome :)

@anup_trivedi1 And also, GPT-3 is not open source, its intellectual property of OpenAI. But, of course as soon as we have open source alternative (that works good enough) we gonna switch to open source and then also get rid the subscription (or reduce the fees to almost zero), as AI makes enough advances regarding computing power they need to run. But for the moment, we take GPT-3, which is simply the best thing out there, and we can not make it cheaper, as we pay exactly that amount to OpenAI. So, it's fair we think.
