Hey all! We started time blocking at the beginning of this year as a way to be more productive. After looking into some other time, habit, or goal tracking apps, we found all of them were tailored to businesses and teams. We wanted something lightweight that was designed for tracking our personal time, not just work. We designed and built Calendarist as a simple, beautiful way to be mindful about the time we spend. Our favorite features right now are: 1) easily tagging and categorizing events that we're already logging in Google Calendar, 2) matching our time blocks to longer term goals, and 3) fun visualizations to see where our time is going. We also have more ideas down the line to give a more holistic picture of trends and progress. We're super excited to finally share Calendarist with you all. Give it a shot, let us know what your thoughts are, and send feedback in the app or to trycalendarist@gmail.com. Cheers, Emily

@gmail @emilyemsu Hi Emily! Very cool take! Is Calendarist just you?
Emily Su
@joelrunyon Appreciate the comment! My friend and I have been working on this for the last few months.

@emilyemsu I've spent a lot of time in this space. The tagging setup is *really* nice! i am curious though - this doesn't necessarily help me block out my day coming up - just tag it up & get insights after the fact, is that right? I've gone through and tagged up a bunch of events, but not sure how I can use that to time block stuff going forward...

@joelrunyon Hey Joel, that’s right — the app currently focuses on providing insights on past events in your schedule, assuming that you already use Google Calendar to time block. It would be super awesome to use that data to inform future scheduling as well. We’re thinking deeply about how Calendarist could serve a more active and enriching role in the time blocking phase. If you have any ideas, feel free to shoot them our way. Appreciate the feedback!

I've always used my calendar as a way to keep track of what I've done but it was hard to visualize categorically how much time I was spending on each activity. With Calendarist it's been really nice to see an overview of my time, if I'm spending enough time on things I enjoy, and see what my past weeks have been like! It's super convenient for keeping track of my goals/habits that I'm aiming for this year as well. Would highly recommend everyone give it a try :)

I've been using it for over a month and LOVE it!! It helped me become a lot more conscious of how I spent my time and understand where my time was going. It has also driven me to plan out my days more and make better use of my time! I didn't imagine how much I would enjoy using it until after I started, but it's so easy to use and looks beautiful and I couldn't recommend it more!

@emilyemsu super cool, but for me, the category of a time block is only half the battle. The specific task I'm working on is important for my blocking. So I want to see that I spent time on #work, but I also want to see that I worked on "release notes." @arlenbitsky Hey Arlen, thanks for the feedback and sharing Plan! We've explored the idea of how to integrate tasks seamlessly in Calendarist, so it's cool to hear you're thinking the same. We'll definitely keep in mind as we continue to iterate on the feature set of Calendarist from visualizing historical data. If you have any other ideas or thoughts, please send them our way! Thanks again :)
