Hi everyone! We're Brainio from the Czech Republic and we love to make apps that help you in everyday life with your productivity. We created Brainio because we wanted a simple way to capture our knowledge and ideas (with a text editor), to organize and learn visually (with mind map editor), to share it with others and collaborate online.
Why? Because knowledge is expensive to acquire and even more expensive to lose.
We've released production version a few days ago and we'd love to hear what you think! Moreover, if you are interested we have prepared promo codes for a 2-years Professional plan for early adopters. Just ask us.
To try Brainio, please visit our site linked above.
The Brainio team is me, Matous Havlena and Jan Dusek.
Comment here with any questions or feedback and we'll do our best to respond!
Brainio looks phenomenal! I've been using http://wisemapping.com but they have some very frustrating limitations that really impede communication and creativity.
The pricing is definitely a turn off though. I'll be fine for now on the free plan but I'll check back to see what you do with the pricing.
Instead of pricing as a SAAS, perhaps a freemium model or a lifetime license might be more appropriate? If you do go down the SAAS route, perhaps pricing by user/teams would be better.
@rayliverified Hi Ray, we are currently playing with the pricing model. It's very likely we remove the document limit completely. Stay tuned, it's our first time launching such a service so we need some time to find the correct balance.
In the mean time, you can reach out to us to get a promo code to get 2 years for free (Pro version). Just drop us a message on fb: https://www.facebook.com/brainio...
@ondrej_havlena I used it today for a webinar. It went well. One thing I noticed missing is the shortcut to be able to quickly hide or show the mindmap branches. I would like to be able to quickly collapse up to the h1 or h2 levels, or expand all branches quickly.
Second request: can we do bullet point sub-points easier by tabbing them in from the left? If we have a long list, it all appears left aligned with no indent in the List view, which is difficult to visually skim through unless you color code an h2. It would be nice to press tab to indent a bullet point which keeps the hierarchy in the list, and in the mindmap adds the sub bullet as a branch. Maybe this is possible to do already, but I couldnt figure it out.
Last idea: for new users, have a tutorial note included which explains how markdown works. I saw a demo note talking about features, but not specifically about markdown or how to find the shortcuts screen. I had to dig around to figure out where thr shortcut screen was and what they were.
Hope that helps!
@chad_fullerton Hello Chad, thank you for your valuable feedback.
ad 1) We have that feature in the beta - unfortunately with some minor bugs so it's not yet launched for production version. We will add that soon.
ad 2) We have to implement that. It's on our roadmap already ;)
ad 3) We are aware of that, but the product is changing every week right now, and we don't have capacity to project every change to tutorial. We are focused on new features and improvements right now (FYI - we will release new version in couple of days with completely redesigned text editor). Once we find our product fit we will implement that ;)
@ondrej_havlena Awesome. Can't wait to see the updates you have coming :) And re: #3, I totally get it. Makes sense to wait until product is stable before doing a tutorial. Just thought it's a good thing to have on the roadmap, since a lot of people, besides techie people like us, don't know what markdown is ;)
@oyeluckynavin@ondrej_havlena +1 for this. I've noticed a few times if I have a long tree, things can be really close together with not much visual separation between the main branch nodes. See here: Would be nice to have a slightly larger visual gap where the red arrows are for reference.
Just started using it, looks good so far! Curious, do you think you will have an import function available soon? I'd like to import maps from other apps, into Brainio and see how that goes
@pamalraj Yes, we are working on that. The first import will be for Amazon Kindle so you can transfer your books (highlights and notes) into the mind map.
WriteMapper 2 does something similar but Brainio appears to be much more practical and intuitive. It allows you to see the entire text you’ve written in plain markdown, side by side with the mind map! Seems perfect for writing long-form content. Haven’t tried it yet but excited to do so!
Looks amazing. I recently downloaded XMind Zen for this very purpose and I was thinking the idea of having notes and Mind maps would be perfect. So glad you've created this. Good luck with the launch!
@ansar Thank you. We used xMind together with Evernote.
We always copied/paste important notes from Evernote to xMind for better visualization and better learning.
Then we realized why not to combine that into one app. A text editor is great when you are in a rush and need to capture your ideas and thoughts easily on the go. A mind map is great when you need to organize or learn something complex. And that's the short story behind Brainio ;)
Its Amazing. I personally don't like paying per month or per year. I want a one time purchase. please see if you can offer the same. But I loved this product. its so easy n neat. Its better than MindNode.
