Hey everyone! Here's the story behind botgig:
After Facebook's recent announcement of their Messenger Bot Platform I put together a Facebook group for bots, a Medium Publication for bots, and I wrote a guide to bots.
All of these things happened to go insanely viral. The Facebook Group and the Medium Publication now have thousands of people in them and my article was read by over 20,000 people in the first week.
And that's when I started getting a lot of messages from brands looking for info on how they could get a bot built. Not only that, I started getting hit up by a ton of people who said they wanted to do freelance development for people looking for chatbots.
Hundreds of developers. So many.
This is why we created botgig, to make it easier for the top notch freelancers we've vetted and these incredible brands to work together.

So, your company has experienced "chat bot" freelance developers and you connect them with brands. Do you consider yourself a specialized recruiting firm or an chat bot design agency? At the moment, it's not really clear. Regardless, kudos on the launch!
@robinbechtel We're excited to do our part to help more companies create quality bots. We've already been sent requests for some incredibly interesting and unique bots from ad agencies, sports teams, and even movies.
We will definitely be sharing our insights and releasing case studies.
A lot of bots are going to be made this year, a lot of them won't be that great, we're hoping to guide our clients towards building experiences that are delightful and unique to the platform.
@skagarroum We can't go into too much detail right now, but we're getting requests for bots that allow you talk to celebrities (or a brand spokesperson), viral marketing bots, bots for movie promotion, shopping bots, finance bots. So many different ideas.
We're getting requests to build bots that are more innovative that any I've seen released so far. I didn't expect this level of quality.
The bot developers we're working with are absolutely world-class too, again I can't go into too much detail, but the bots our developers have built have appeared on CNN, TechCrunch, Forbes, Wire, and some were even talked about at f8.
On April 13 at Facebook F8 conference, you could see there was a big community of Bot enthusiasts, the only problem was, were scattered around. @mattprd did an amazing job (and it has grown vey quickly) to create a space where we can share ideas, get questions answered and get your Bot built.
@felipe_collin It's incredible how quickly the community is growing, we're so excited to be a part of it and do our best to gently guide it towards collaboration and innovation.
What should we do next? :)
Really interesting and looking forward for more to come. A few questions, what differentiates you from other "freelancing" platforms, are you aiming to be the goto for "bots"? Also what's the target market use case for the bots, as in are you aiming at large brands? Keep up the work! Seeing how far conversational bots can go just beyond all the current noise and hype.
As a bot developer, im really excited about this new market, with the facebook inclusion the potential market is multiplied.
I'm sure a platform like botgig is going to help a lot to solve this gap.
Great idea Matt, thank you for your efforts to grow the space. I was wondering how we can become listed as a bot developer within this platform. We've built 40+ bots since 2007, some of which were built for enterprises such as Coca Cola, Unilever, PwC, Johnson&Johnson. We're currently developing a couple of Facebook Messenger bots for such brands.
