Hey, everyone. Bookcelerator ranks the top books that will make you smarter by compiling upvotes from Product Hunt, reviews from Amazon and GoodReads, reading time etc. There are collections we made using Medium post by entrepreneurs and posts by Forbes, Business Insider, Entrepreneur.com contributors. I'm happy to let you know we use Fieldbook as a backend. It's real MVP, i know ;). Thanks @jasoncrawford for the service. Would love to hear your thoughts! Feel free to reach me out with personal questions at andy@bookcelerator.com. For example, if you want to make a collection we don't have yet. Thank you @nivo0o0 for the hunt! There is a gif for you :)

Looking great !
Andy Gor
@2noamh thank you. We skipped real covers to let people choose by titles and authors.

Great book curation guys. I am pro covers. I think might increases engagement. The large tiles design is nice. Btw the like fb button appears to have this label: Подобається
Brett Cresey
This looks great! I've been having trouble recently finding a good way to track books I want to read. Could be a useful next step!

I am pro cover but at this juncture I don't think it really matters. What I think should be the first step (really even before this soft launch) should have been a way to either purchase the book or add it on Goodreads. Right now it's a brightly colored list that bellies the real magic behind the scenes. Meaning if I have to make a list myself of the list it's not super helpful. It wouldn't take much to link to the Goodreads page or even the book on Amazon no partnerships or API tie in required. I think it's a good start and as an "alpha" i think you're on to something. I'd like to see more functionality before it's out there and asking users to try it. It's better to compete a phase then rush to market.

@andygorezkyi Agree on the part about goodreads / amazon! I naturally thought clicking the buttons for goodreads / amazon will lead me directly to the correct page. Don't mind about affiliate links either in general ;-)
Andy Gor
@camillovisini yep, links might work. Don't want to use affiliate programs, but will think on it. Thanks.
John Higgins
Cool. It is strange that you can't click on the books
Andy Gor
@johnbhiggins yes, i know. It's our innovation in content discovery :D. Just kidding. We are going to make a book page in the next update. Thank you for a comment.
Sornakumar
Can I sort by combining more than one tag? For ex - I want to see the top rated books in Amazon AND Product hunt which are SHORT.
Andy Gor
@sornakumar that's our next feature. Still in beta, sorry.
Sornakumar
@andygorezkyi Thanks Andy. The product looks great! I like the idea of no covers. Maybe you should just add a tag which says "Covers". And unselecting that would bring it to the colors interface :)
Ekaterina Kostomarova
Come here to leave another comment about book cover. Without cover everything look like it is undone. Also tried to click on every button under the book and on book itself. No reaction. I even can feel some irritation about this :D Are you going to add link to some store where I can buy a book? Where do you take information about most upvoted books on producthunt?
Andy Gor
@ekaterina_kharitonova thanks. Let me comment: 1. Covers. We hear you, thanks. 2. Buttons uder books show information (see a gif below). 3. We are going to make a partnership with a book store, still working on it. 4. We use data from Product Hunt, but collect books we want to feature.
Ekaterina Kostomarova
@andygorezkyi thanks for the answer! I see, but the cursor looks like I can to click on it, but when I click nothing happens. Looking forward to see your updates!

Agree about covers. My right brain just zones out rendering the rest of my brain nonfunctioning without visual stimuli.

It seems like I'm getting a weird bug with the content only going to one column. I'm on Mac in Safari. http://jmp.sh/8ipRjl5
Andy Gor
@hustlinhack Ouch. Safari 9.x?
Andy Gor
@hustlinhack we've fixed this bug. Will be nive if you find time to take a look and let is know. Thanks!
Aleksandra
Nice idea, but why do I see the same books for a few times on the home page? Also, the idea to skip covers seems good to me, if you want users to focus more on the content, not the cover design, but then such bright colors make no sense to me, as they get all my attention and at some point become a bit annoying. Good luck with the product!
Andy Gor
@aleks_muse thank you so much for all the details you mentioned. Will check what's wrong on a homepage and discuss with the team colors. Thanks again.
Amit Tiwari
Very nice collection. Would love to see most recommended books in different categories like entrepreneurship, design, etc. Overall, awesome work.
Tayler O'Dea
I absolutely love many of these books listed. I guess design wise, I sort of miss seeing the covers! Even if they were underlayed behind the colors... just my too cents. Also, how can we add too this list?
Andy Gor
@tayler2412 thanks for feedback. Do you want to make a collection or add a book? Let me know via email andy@bookcelerator.com
Daniel Rojkind
This is great, will definitely be coming back to this ! +1 for linking directly to goodreads or being able to add a title to my "To Read" list. A summary pulled in from goodreads would also be great to get some more context on what the book is about.
Evan Kimbrell
Cool stuff. Curious how you calculate your reading time. Traction book for example is 240 pages and it says 3.5 hours. Are you using 70~ pages an hour as a baseline? Could be easy to just put a basic input to put your own reading speed
Michael Suen
I was looking for something like this! As a pretty voracious reader, I used to have to troll through Reddit, Goodreads and Amazon to get decent recommendations. This list is going to be very handy for me :D

Looks like the post-newsletter sign up screen is in Ukrainian? Підтвердіть Перш, ніж підпишу вас, підтвердіть, що ви не скріпт :) Not sure what that means but just wanted to call it out!
Bala S.
Good Read.
Andy Gor
@leanux_bala it's a feedback or do you mean we have a mistake somewhere?
Samir Doshi
Huge value here --- great effort putting this together.
