Better Sheets started 2 years ago not in spite of, but because of the pandemic. After 5 years of creating google sheets within a startup and for myself I realized others needed to know how to make the experience of working in Google Sheets better. Simple best practices I picked up along the way became brain busting new revelations for others. And I started picking up even more tips and tricks along the way. Better Sheets members make Better Sheets better. Every member can ask me anything and they do. Ben has built an English school in Thailand and uses Google Sheets to manage the operations of the school. Teachers are using Google Sheets already and with Better Sheets are learning how to make games for kids to learn how to use spreadsheets themselves through play. Members aren't just making sheets for themselves to use. Many are creating sheets that sell in marketplaces like Etsy, Shopify, and AppSumo. Ana created a new system to manage your energy through the day. Zoe create a new hashtag organizer for Instagrammers. Everyone uses Google Sheets and everyone can learn something new. I'm looking forward to new members teaching me too. Learning along with you and helping others find out that Google Sheets isn't all black and white and Arial font.

@alcaan Glad to hear it. One thing you can do: change that black and white to dark gray and paper-ish.. your eyes will thank you later for the decrease in contrast. for text try #444444 and for background color: #fbf8f8

@arunpariyar But within Better Sheets there are pieces of software or code I made or show off. like OnlySheets connects Gumroad & Google Sheets. I also have a script for click tracking within Sheets. And offer the code to capture Stripe Webhooks in sheets.

@rezi The site is brand new since start of April. The courses and videos and templates and scripts have been earning money via AppSumo marketplace and Gumroad.

@zhitao_yan Much appreciated. I'm working on a course where I dive into plugins, add-ons, other products that go beyond Google Sheets. It's called "Beyond Sheets" hopefully will get it out by the end of this year. but always (now) looking for more tools to use. For the past 2 years been focused on working within Sheets. So this is new for me too.

Nice idea Andrew! I use pages and notion because I could figure them out without instructions! I have a few docs in sheets but haven’t got a clue how to use it!! It looks far too confusing.

@maya_ovice not until you said it.. I didn't realize it could be a Phobia. I just googled for it, trying to figure out what the scientific name for "Fear of Spreadsheets" could be.. there is a Fear of Lists: pinaciphobia Odd that that is listed on a list of phobias. Too bad people with pinaciphobia would never know what the name of it is.

@coolkcwong I'm not sure we can get to the moon on spreadsheets alone. Those closest I get is at EV Universe they've made super special sheets for their members to cover the EV.. well universe. :) https://evuniverse.io/ Oh and people are using sheets to track their Crypto portfolio. @snakecharmer Oh no should I not say that.. since the latest updates from Netflix. Thankfully I can't go down in subscriber count.. because most people just get the lifetime deal on Better Sheets. It's all up and to the right here!

I'm pretty well versed in the Sheets myself (sorry dad joke). And I kinda fear I would go ahead and not use any of the templates in a severe case of DIY (aka not-invented-by-me-syndrome). Do you have an example sheet to get a feel of it?

@sbalen You can do that. In fact I pretty much urge everyone to DIY. The vast majority of videos show you how to do it on your own. And then also include the sheet, for those who want to see it, use it, abuse it. Perhaps this Dark Habits template is a good example. I show you how I made it, you can download it for free as a member, and play around with it.
Most videos show you bits and bobs of sheets that you can adopt into your own sheets. Many of those little items, like dashboards, progress bars, and headers. I've collected into Atomic Sheets which I should be releasing soon. Things that are parts of sheets, but not full templates. While it's easy to find full templates, even google has them ready for you, and many extensions/addons/plugsin offer more templates to start with. None are great to use when you're trying to put the finishing touches on a sheet. That's where Atomic Sheets comes in. But not everyone is the same. If you want to use it as inspiration, then go ahead. do that. I think you'd also like the Sheet Improvement series of videos. Where I show the details of how I improve a sheet. Some of which I've found myself online for public consumption. That way you obviously don't need the final sheet. It's someone else's thing. But you do learn little parts on how to make your sheets better. Here's one of the shorter ones at 19 minutes long:
