Hello ProductHunters! I'm Andrew, co-founder of BourbonShake. Bark is developed as our fun project. We thought dogs barking together could be the simplest and the most effective way of communication, so we developed Bark App where people can just bark together with other people nearby. You donโt need to speak the same language. You donโt even really need to have anything to say because you can just bark with this app.
Hi, i would like to give you me feedback about your Product.
I like the idea, because i love innovation and this is pure innovation. Congratulations!.
But... i see some things that i hate.
The app treat me like an object. I feel like Bark say me: "Hey you, you are the object number 313 ok?.. now choose a dog face".
Your apps is for humans (you have to remember that) and the human love the feeling of communication, that's what (in essence) your app does, this is where the spirit of your app born.
But you miss your essence when a user scan around, and just find numbers. Even dogs we give name.
I want to scan, and find names. I want to feel that are other people around me using this app. Not numbers.
Is like in these jails, where you just are a number, an object.. and not a person.
I wish you the best.
Excuse my bad English,
PS: Have you think about it, when your app have 3 million of downloads? and are 3 million numbers? (up to 7-digit numbers)
I echo the sentiment in appreciating the fun factor and technology prowess required to make such an app (will give it a try if android app is released)
@marioenrique Thanks a lot for your opinion. There are two main reasons why we decided to name users as sign-up numbers. 1) Core concept of this app is to act like a dog. Dog doesn't need to know other dog's name. They just bark together, and become friends. We wanted to maintain this concept on our app too. 2) This app would have high-level of privacy issue if people put their nick name on their profile because this app shows how far the users are located. We wanted to focus only the interaction part by reducing privacy risk. I hope you understand our intentions, and we really appreciate your feedback!
@chrismessina 1 common thing with Yo (communication using a ping), but Bark is location based and anonymous, so you communicate with people nearby where in Yo, you communicate with someone who you already know like most other messengers.
I thought I would record my first experiences with Bark. @andrew_cho How does the experience change when you have more "dogs" around you? And do you plan to make any changes to the app in the future?
@janahrend Hello Jan, thanks for your interest. This app has just started, so yes, it would not be many dogs around in some place. We are working on for upgrading our app with several new features. Please keep an eye on Bark. Thanks!

@grooveplex Hello Barend! Yes, this app was developed the developer in our team now two years ago. But at that time he just closed the service after one month of operation. Now we re-launched upgrade version of the app with new look and new features. Thanks!
@david770 Thanks David! Yes, we tried similar concept but with chatting, but it's not on live now. We may develop it later if Bark will be successful more. Thanks again!
