@gordi_braun Hey Gordi! When we started Airy we actually built out our cloud product first. We went in with the thesis that most businesses want to have a black box that just works. Once we proved that conversational works for most business use cases, we saw that there was a strong need for businesses to own the main way they communicate with their customers, and the data underlying it. It was time to make our platform widely available, which brings us here. We are also of course big fans of open source in general, Airy is built around Kafka for example, and it just makes sense to give back.

This is pretty neat. How do you handle encryption between the different services?

@bogomep Hi Bogomil, encryption is a very important topic for us. Since all our data resides in Apache Kafka and is only exposed via Kafka Streams Apps we are able to take advantage of Kafkas SSL encryption. For encryption-at-rest we use our cloud providers disk encryption. We also support Open ID Connect as an identity layer so we can focus on improving our platform and be assured that our authentication is always up to date.

I have been a big fan of Airy's Open Source Chat Plugin and it's ease of modularity across multiple touchpoints. The use case that got me most interested was the application to eCom and how through ease of opt-ins consumers could identify themselves & even connect as members. Work in progress, but hopefully a collaboration soon!
