Very excited to hunt Abstract. We've been using Abstract at our company for a few months now and have gotten to know Emma. I'm super impressed with the product, documentation, support, and especially their responsiveness to our questions and feedback. We almost try to find more reasons to use Abstract in our code because we love the company so much :)

Thanks for trusting us from day one @matttbrown. So much of the current product comes from our users feedback. We couldn't exist without you!
Artur Mkrtchyan
Really like it! Do you guys have a roadmap with upcoming APIs ?
Eric Paul G.B.
@arturmkrtchyan Thanks Artur! We don't have a public roadmap yet but do you have any API you were looking to use in particular?
Artur Mkrtchyan
@paulgarreth5 Was thinking about IBAN validation and data extraction
Eric Paul G.B.
@arturmkrtchyan Awesome! IBAN validation is already in the works actually! For data extraction, we're thinking of the best way to do it :)

This looks great - looking forward to trying it out. Do paid tiers get access to any extra APIs? Or are there plans to add more APIs in the future?
Eric Paul G.B.
@domhnall_o_hanlon Thanks! We are indeed working on several more APIs :). Paid plans will give access to all of them, even the ones without free plans. So yes :).

@paulgarreth5 Awesome, thanks!

Fantastic work by Emma and Eric. Juggling millions of APIs and subscriptions is always a pain. Finally a simple product that bundles all this together with an extensive free plan for personal projects. Can't wait to see it expanding!
Eric Paul G.B.
@redongjika Thanks! We're trying to empower as many developers as possible with a reliable, simple and affordable API suite that they can use across all their projects. Glad you noticed ;)
Redon Gjika
Love the simplicity and the pre-built code snippets.
Eric Paul G.B.
@redongjika More coming soon! :)
Rico Trevisan
Random, but I do appreciate the use of the Oxford comma on the landing page.
Eric Paul G.B.
@ricotrevisan Haha. Thanks. And this has definitely to do with Emma's work :).

Interesting but the current pricing model is off-putting for startups. I checked two APIs of yours: no commercial use allowed on the free plan + an individual pricing for each. Ignore my comment if you’re not targeting startups... It would be much more appealing with a credits system coupled with on-demand usage (eg. One API may have 100 calls for 1 credit while another one could be 200 calls for 1 credit). Allowing commercial use in free plans would also be nice to convince a non-profitable startup.
Eric Paul G.B.
@romainbarissat Thank you for your honest feedback Romain. Our pricing is always evolving and we're constantly trying to find a good balance between letting as many people as possible use our API and building a business. We tried to be affordable for this launch by having prices that are below what other APIs can offer. That being said, we also have a program for startups: https://www.abstractapi.com/abst...

Congrats to @paulgarreth5 and @emma_perrez for developing these APIs. Lots of beneficial tools here that every maker should be bookmarking and using.
Eric Paul G.B.
@emma_perrez @kensavage Thank you Ken! It means a lot to us!
Dan Siepen
Yes! Was just chatting to my dev mate about you guys - this is great! :)
Eric Paul G.B.
@dansiepen <3 Thanks Dan!

I was looking around without signing up. Here https://www.abstractapi.com/vat-... I tried the test input to test a number to see if valid VAT number. I was not expecting a login screen to jump in my face at this step. An input field with a label "Test it out" should not ask for login.
Eric Paul G.B.
@fancsiki We're fixing this asap. Sorry about the inconvenience... :(
R. Fancsiki
@paulgarreth5 No inconvenience :) I was just providing feedback. Great idea, the generic apis!
Shree
This is nice. Well executed. I was fiddling with the idea for a long. Have signed up. Sharing one Lookup API idea which I had made. Pricing in the visitor's currency. Just to give a quick idea. here is an example link. https://apiclerk.com/localrate/v... This will convert USD 24 into the visitor's currency. (little buggy at times) All the best. Looking forward to more lookup APIs. 👍
Eric Paul G.B.
@shree Fantastic idea! Let me add this to our roadmap :)
Shree
@paulgarreth5 Nice! Here is another idea. Email validation along with burner email check. There is a ready list here. -> https://github.com/ivolo/disposa...

Switched to Abstract 3 months ago and already serving 100k visits a day without any issue. Congrats to the team! Excited to see more coming!
Eric Paul G.B.
@raph_jbol Thank you Jbol de riz. Looking forward to scaling Abstract with you <3
nityam bhangar
Just love this. thanks for making such good tools for developers
Eric Paul G.B.
@nityam_bhangar Thanks for trusting Abstract!
Michał
Wow. Looks useful and well-documented :) Keep them coming!
Eric Paul G.B.
@michal Thanks Michal! Anytime :)
Jon Scalise
Great idea! Excited to try it out in some personal projects.
Eric Paul G.B.
@jscalise Thanks Jon! And honored to have Abstract somewhere in your next personal repos :).
Pierce Porterfield
I had this exact idea! So glad this exists
Eric Paul G.B.
@pierce_engineer So glad you like it!
Дмитрий Косолобов
there's a typo on the third slide ("created by Abtract")
Eric Paul G.B.
@saltoftheflame Good catch. Fixing this ASAP!
Giacomo Balli
Looks promising, good job! I signed up but after logging in it goes to https://app.abstractapi.com but after ~1s redirects back to https://app.abstractapi.com/logi... endless loop.
Eric Paul G.B.
@bigballi Thanks Giacomo. We're investigating :)

Not really understanding these gender APIs. Aren't folks worried about misgendering someone and how that may make that person feel? Why not just use inclusive language or let the person tell you their pronouns?
Matthew Yorkgitis
Great selection of APIs I haven't seen elsewhere before!
