Hi this is pretty cool. I sat and filled out the submission form then got a message telling me the screenshot (which is required) is more than 500kb and thus inadmissible. I’m on my phone and took a screenshot using the standard way. If your not accommodating standard iPhone screenshots then you are massively restricting the number of people who can upload. The form was pretty lengthy and I wrote a lot of detail, I’m not not going to go back and do that all again for the sake of getting a smaller screenshot.
EO
@mickc79 Thanks for the feedback, and apologies for this. I've increased the limit to 1500KB. If you still have the page open, you can just resubmit the form without having to write everything from scratch again. If not, I'll see if I can find a way to get your initial submission back and contact you directly.
EO
@mickc79 @jakeboyles Apologies for the inconvenience. I've already increased the screenshot limit size to 1500 KB so I'm not sure what issue you had while submitting ?
Ross Currie
@mickc79 @jakeboyles @eothmane Maybe try not clearing the form when submission fails, which sounds like part of the issue

👋Hello PH, I'm Othmane and I am thrilled to do my first product hunt launch! 1Kprojects is the first project out of my challenge to overcome maker paralysis by shipping a new product every 2 weeks, so far it's going great! 💡 I've always wanted to just buy a cool project on a whim, without thinking much about it. But that's something I've never been able to do due to the high prices and low quality websites available on marketplaces like flippa. And like all of us makers, I have many abandoned projects, that I know other people would find valuable. 💸That's why I made 1Kprojects, which is a curated marketplace where makers can buy and sell neglected side projects for less than $1000. 🛍As a buyer, you get a weekly email with the latest curated projects, all priced $1k or less. 🤝As a seller, you can put unlimited projects on sale, completely for free, and only pay when you actually get legitimate offers ( all offers are manually approved ). 🙏Let me know what you think about the model, and how you think I can improve the product to better fit your needs as a buyer or a seller. Thank you!

@eothmane Great Job Here. I will add some search option and definitely a category in order to be able to see what type of project, as well for subscription - in order to get only those projects that I am interesting to buy. Will be great to see a filter with MRR - 0, and >0
Tim Shnaider
What's the point of capturing MRR? These are abandoned projects that people want to flick for < $1000, whatever meagre revenue they ever had would be meaningless

Great idea! What is the pricing? It just says "small fee" which is not very clear.
EO
@bhatnagar_san Currently, a $19 one time fee is required to unlock all past and future offers of a specific projects. I say currently because I'm still gathering feedback from sellers about this model. But so far, the people who purchased it say they didn't regret purchasing and are getting value out of it. Your feedback is appreciated as well!
Kishore
@bhatnagar_san @eothmane why not commission based on total purchase ( like if it is $50 you take 10% if more than $100 you take 5% or a fixed price? This won't restrict users to submit without forcing them to pay.
EO
@bhatnagar_san @prakis That's a good idea that I'm definitely considering, but still need some more feedback from the existing sellers. I don't feel like I'm forcing anyone to pay though, with the current model, I've tried as best as I could to make the payment worth it for the seller, compared to the traditional listing fee with no guarantees to get any offers.
craze
@bhatnagar_san @eothmane I didn't even see "small fee". You should make the $19 charge much easier to see...

Great idea. Subscribed to the list. May be interested in buying/selling a few myself. I see you mentioned Flippa. I think that it will be important to keep those spammy flippa sites off of your listings (ie “OMG TURNKEY BUSINESS $600/day BUY IT NOW $59”). Those are listings that make me not check flippa anymore.
EO
@samcreamer Completely agree, I've already denied two submissions of sites similar to what you're describing.
mightyalex
Amazing, submitted 2 of my projects and already got offers. Is the one-time fee of $19 to unlock offers for one or all projects together?
mightyalex
Also we don't know anything about the offer before the unlock. Maybe if you include a field where they put the offered price and we see only that without other details. Now it can be just some random text that someone posted.
EO
@mightyalex Hey Alex, thanks for submitting & the feedback. All offers are approved manually, if it's not a legitimate question / offer, you won't see it as a seller. As for the $19 price, it's a one time fee to unlock all existing and upcoming offers for a specific project. I'm still gathering feedback from sellers and this model may change over the next. Please hit me up over e-mail if you have ideas / suggestions about this. Thanks again!
mightyalex
@eothmane The manual approval of offers is great, thank you for clarifying that. Also the $19 unlock per project is probably fair.
Jonas M. B.
Sounds great. Is there any escrow service?
EO
@pastelpad Not at the moment. Sellers can reach out to buyers and discuss the details of the sale privately.
Andrey Azimov
Cool idea mate! Can you please add filter for mrr so I can see >0?
EO
@andreyazimov Will do in a few days if it makes sense. Thank you for the kind words ( And the inspiration ;) )
Kris Williams
Good idea . Upvoted . Look forward to keeping tabs on this in near future
EO
@taxodapp Thank you, good to have you with us.
Bilal Budhani
Great idea. Thou as a buyer I would love to see some data from Google analytics. Does it make sense to integrate with GA and show some vital data points?
EO
@bilalbudhani Thanks for the feedback, and yes that's planned in the future.
Manuel Frigerio
Hi Othomane, nice idea and definitely something I'd use myself to buy side projects (https://twitter.com/mnlfrgr/stat...). However I'd like a way to filter projects based on tech stack, MRR, etc. Ultimately everyone has their own criteria.
EO
@mnlfrgr Working on it!

@eothmane this is an awesome marketplace! There are so many people that start a project, but don't get around to finishing or pursuing it. I'd definitely recommend: - Categories - Repository of business/legal document templates to facilitate ownership transfer - Keeping current "pay before you interact" model to prevent transactions from just being taken off the platform entirely to save the fee - Allow for logos on landing page to bring some color to the interface - Get rid of the "subscribe to newsletter" checkmark when contacting since many could have already subscribed - Share links on each project that results in a "finders fee" paid out if purchased through their share.
EO
@qwoods13 Those are amazing ideas! Thank you. I'm implementing a few new things today!
Paul Shuteyev
@eothmane this is 100x better than Flippa! Damn, I liked 1KP from the first sight. As for me such projects and functional web apps you sell have way more value than just websites or domains for sale. I would like to offer you to publish an interview about 1KProjects at https://startupradius.com/ please PM me at paul@startupradius.com for more details
Albert Wolszon

I just posted few of my domains for sale, it was smooth proccess, I liked it :)

Pros:

Easy to use, clean interface

Cons:

Didn't find any

Andrei
Funny, had this exact idea a month ago. Congrats, hope your marketplace will be successful 👏
EO
@andrei_nedelcu Thank you 🙏
Jake Boyles
Just tried to submit a project and the site failed on me.
EO
@jakeboyles Can you tell me what went wrong ?New projects have been submitted and I'm not seeing any errors on my side.
Elena Zhizhimontova
Looks useful! I wanted to ask, what if I have a VR project I want to sell (though I can't post an App Store/Steam/Google Play link) - is there any way for the buyer to check out the project before they buy?
EO
@zelena The way it works is that you explain the project to the best of your ability, even if there is no link ( screenshot required though ), and then buyers get in touch with you for more details if needed. You can then privately discuss how to provide access or demo the project.
EO
@zelena I suggest submitting the project since it's free, and then see how things work out.
Kenvin
so cool , just submitted.
Jaimin Patel
Good project. but why 1K? Just curious.
aris alexis
Hi @eothmane , very interesting project but could you rethink a bit first the pricing (I would like to sell my project for more than 1k) and secondly your revenue model? Making me pay $19 to read the offers makes me suspicious that these offers are coming from your people to make others pay and will not materialize. You should only charge if projects are sold in my opinion and much more than $19 if you want.
EO
@arisalexis I was just about to answer your email when I got the notification for this. So I'll just paste it here : Thanks for the feedback. You're the second person to be suspicious of the offers. I've just added this afternoon access to a preview of the offers ( The beginning of the buyer's message ) as well as the intent of the buyer ( Ask questions, Negotiate, Or ready to buy ) before paying. Does that help alleviate your suspicions ? If not, what would ? Charging when projects are sold means turning into an escrow service, which I can't do at the moment. The way I see the fee, is a better "listing fee", so instead of paying to list your project ( like many marketplaces do ), you get to list it for free, and only pay if you receive enough offers.
