Hi, Product Hunt! I'm Sunny Mabrey, actress, comedian, social media influencer, director, writer, model, animal lover and advocate, and sometimes-musician. What can I say, I'm a fan of the right-brained arts! Dislikes: math. Yeah, mostly math. Although I've been working as an actress and model for a while, the past few years have brought about a new element to my life and career: social media entertainment. In a relatively short time, I've accumulated around 1.4M followers, combined on all of my chosen social networks and continue to grow through connecting with people who also laugh at weird stuff.
I was also a Nominee in the 8th Annual Shorty Awards, honoring the best influencers and brands on social media.

What's your best tip when it comes to building a personal brand ?
M
Sunny Mabrey
@sunnymabrey
@filip_johansen Don't try to build a "brand" at all. Just do what you love, make yourself vulnerable, be brave, put it out there in the world, and someone WILL relate.

Hi Sunny , I'm a big fan of Once Upon a Time. And you're like Glinda was just great! I would like to ask you, then if you have any funny or interesting story from filming Once upon a time? Thank you, xoxo

@sona_krenarova Hi! Thanks for your question. I enjoyed all of being Glinda, especially the costumes (amazing!) Unfortunately one of them got soaked in mud all the way up to my knees. You can see it in the scene with Zelena at the well. I guess supernatural characters don't hike up their skirts when they "float" through the mud. :) Also, I played Glinda the Good Witch in college. So this was a reprisal!

@sunnymabrey LOL, I'm dying of laughter while really sympathize ... "Glinda, the Good Witch of the muddy lagoon" You were an actress already in college! That's great, I hope I'm lucky enough to go in your footsteps ! And I think I also speak for the other fans ... Thank you for Glinda and wish only beautiful costumes and scenes in dry places ! ❤

If you could collaborate with anyone, who would it be?
M
Sunny Mabrey
@sunnymabrey
@ashleynickas I've always though Aaron Chewning and I could make some funny vines together. He lives far away though. He has a lot of followers, but it's not about that to me.. I just want to make stuff with people that make me laugh. Regal Joe is also a riot. I would love to make more vines with Sara Hopkins as well, but she also lives far.

What's the best piece of advice you've ever received and how did it impact your life? Flip side, what's the worst piece of advice you've ever received?
M
Sunny Mabrey
@sunnymabrey
@ems_hodge Oh man... This is a hard one. My mom always said "To have good friends, you have to BE a good friend." So no more sitting there feeling sorry for yourself. Get out of your own life, go help someone, and be a good friend to someone who's not expecting it. Worst advice would have to be anything that caused me to feel self doubt. "Pick a practical career.", maybe. Although well-meaning, it doesn't encourage me in my right-brained endeavors.

Hi Sunny,
Your videos about things Southerners say is so relatable because I'm from TN. All the characters you develop are hilarious. Is there one that sticks out as your favorite, and if so why?

@ashleynickas Hi Ashley! Hmmm.. My favorite southern character would have to be the weird redneck one I do with my Dad. I don't think (she?) has a name lol.. We have so much fun together.

@sunnymabrey that's a great one. Do you have a favorite overall character?

@ashleynickas I always loved the woman who thought she had an assistant named Cheryl. ;)

Hi, Sunny! Curious to hear your thoughts on Snapchat. There are many content creators that love it but lament the fact that their content disappears after 24 hours.

As an "influencer", what is your vetting process for potential partner/sponsorships? Is there an industry standard fee structure (eg $1 per like)?
M
Sunny Mabrey
@sunnymabrey
@andrewett I have a couple agencies (and a fabulous manager) who helps me wade through the sponsorship/advertising offers, thankfully. I think there is a particular sum or way of figuring out how much someone should be paid based on followers/engagement, but there are many other factors that come in to play.. What type of audience does the person have? What is their work history besides this platform? Everyone basically surveys whether it's a client I want to represent, then comes to a monetary number and agrees on it.

Hey Sunny! Can you share with us your come up story? How did you get your first break?
M
Sunny Mabrey
@sunnymabrey
@eriktorenberg Hey Erik! I started as a model in Atlanta (near my home in Alabama). My mom showed my picture to a high school friend who had become a modeling agent in Atlanta. She liked my look and sent me off on the modeling circuit (Paris, Miami, etc.). I went back to school, got my BA in theatre at University of Mobile (a private liberal arts school). I then went to NY for a while, finally ending up in Los Angeles, modeling and acting. Vine came much later. :)

Sunny what do you say to teens who may be "over influenced" by their social channels?
M
Sunny Mabrey
@sunnymabrey
@gregjcross Go outside! Seriously. I know it sounds like an old person thing to say, but go camping and leave your phones in the car. Also, CHURCH. :)
