Hey @jack. Investors have long been obsessed with monthly active users (MAU) as the key to Twitter's value. Which metrics do you use to track the health and growth of Twitter's network and Twitter's business and what are you seeing in those metrics that makes you optimistic about the future for users, partners, and investors?

@sacca A follow up to Sacca's question on user growth : Would you say "Make a few users love your product" strategy is not working out for Twitter?

@sacca A very important q; @jack's answer will evince the relative importance of engagement versus vanity metrics @twitter, & the entire struggle underpinning which end of the funnel the company feels is more important to build for. e.g. Moments is a top-end-of-funnel product designed to attract casual users (for now).

@sacca As a follow up to Sacca's question. Seems like many compare success of Twitter with the likes of Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook solely based on the number of monthly active user metric (MAU). But not many seem to measure success by the type of users on each platform. I see almost all the world leaders, CEOs, politicians, authors, scientists, celebri… See more

@sacca what I care about is building daily utility. It's the first thing people check when they wake up because they want to see the world, and the first place to people go when they have something to say or want to have a conversation. Everything happening in the world is on Twitter, and I want to make sure everyone can participate!

@jack @sacca So how have your initiatives performed thus far in achieving this stated goal?
Jake Chapman@runvc · Partner, Sazze Partners
@jack @sacca Do you measure those specific goals? e.g. predictive model says I wake up at 4:30am and... I check my "While I was away tweets" I go to bed at 11:00 and last twitter check in is 10:55? Paris shooting and Twitter is where X% of people share their impressions/reactions vs. other media?

@sacca Years ago @jack tweeted "Wanting to be someone else is a waste of the person you are" (https://twitter.com/jack/status/...). IMHO the MAUs metric was due to the comparison to Facebook, and that immediately makes Twitter try to be more like them, which is a waste of how amazing they actually are. I do hope @jack can change that!

@jack I definitely agree there is a daily b2b use case, but not convinced there is a viable consumer daily use case that people can/should care about. I'm in the camp that we already live in a world where there is too much news, that's irrelevant/in-actionable -- and Twitter just adds to that noise for the average person. That said, as a founder of a startup… See more
