As Houseparty's resident analytics expert, you use data to understand our users. Whether it's the efficacy of a new feature or unexpected growth trends in some particular region, we turn to you to understand why. You drive product and business roadmaps by creatively synthesizing information into a meaningful story. Roles & Responsibilities: - You will use data to inform our product roadmap and business decisions - You will play a meaningful role in determining the right questions to ask - You'll find concrete answers to vague questions - You will pose questions about our product (from UI down to infrastructure) and validate hypotheses with evidence - You will make and implement decisions about how data should be organized - You will identify product opportunities by analyzing user behavior - You'll build automated dashboards to drive data awareness throughout the company You Ideally: - Have experience with languages used for querying (like SQL) - Have experience with languages used for statistical analysis (like Python, R, etc) - Have used large data sets to build products and inform business decisions - Have worked creatively with ambiguous data sets - Have experience with social and/or communications applications - Have a strong quantitative background (CS, math, econ, physics, etc) - Have a demonstrable history of taking initiative - Take a creative approach to problem-solving - Thrive given the autonomy to design and build greenfield business-critical systems - Enjoy a collaborative work environment Furthermore: - Work with integrity, always with the goal of ensuring the best possible experience for our users - Be an excellent written and verbal communicator - Be willing to take on diverse challenges without fear of failure - Be passionate about crafting the future of digital communication - Be a social person. As the Growth Marketing Intern at Houseparty, you will: - Be a part of a lean, fast, and highly effective marketing team -Assist with the managing of our student ambassador programs - Work on online influencer campaigns, source influencers and foster relationships - Coordinate multiple events and activations across the country - Keep our social media content calendar up to date and full of great ideas - Create and maintain an events and editorial calendar - Learn how to analyze the success of your work using data and real numbers - Be prepared to wear a lot of hats and say yes to a lot of things, and juggle all of those things...all at once - Learn how to think about tech products and experience a startup is like from the inside - Receive mentorship and guidance from your colleagues, who are excited about helping you to crush it What about you? - You LOVE Houseparty; the brand, the product, the team - all of it! - A recent college grad or current college student in the SF area - You’re excited, passionate and a self-starter - You’re a self-described social media aficionado - and can show off your insta to prove it - You ask a LOT of questions and aren’t afraid to speak up and share ideas when you have them - Organized, detail oriented, and well-written - Someone once told you that you’re the most creative person they know - You’re down for anything and ready to get your hands dirty - You know the difference between thirsty and extra Bonus points if you have design experience or have held a leadership position while in college. Given Houseparty’s extraordinary growth, we face a variety of infrastructure challenges. If you like solving for scale with a high degree of independence, then we want to talk to you. Role and Responsibilities: - You'll be responsible for all things infrastructure: design, architecture, communication, monitoring, availability, scalability (obviously), failover and recovery - You will identify, analyze, and mitigate risk exposure at all levels - You'll manage team backlogs and ensure forward project momentum You Ideally: - Have excellent systems-level analytical skills and an ability to move up and down the stack - Have a generally data-conscious, creative attitude toward systems and infrastructure - Have a passion for automation, and knowledge of system automation frameworks - Have basic sysadmin skills (install a host, upgrade a box, format a disc, etc) - Have a deep understanding of Linux - Have experience with AWS at scale (>100 nodes) - Have experience with relational and non-relational databases (we like Mongo, Postgres on RDS) - Have experience with cluster / container frameworks (Kubernetes, Docker, Mesos, etc) - Have kernel experience - Have experience debugging JVM - Have experience setting up and using common CI tools (we like Jenkins, Travis) - Know several scripting and programming languages (Bash, Python, Scala, Go, etc) - Know how not to do things that take down our entire system (but seriously) - Enjoy a high growth environment Furthermore: - Be committed to standard engineering methodologies, including automated testing and continuous integration - Be willing to take risks with product features and functionality - Be dedicated to creative problem solvingBe an excellent written and verbal communicator - Be prepared for diverse challenges without fear of failure - Be passionate about crafting the future of digital communication - Be a social person.
