Will BeReal survive the copycat features?

IMO it was just a matter of time before TikTok and Insta started implementing similar features into their products. The situation resembles Clubhouse. But would be interested to hear from those who are bullish on BeReal.

I was certain that Clubhouse would be a success. They had an excellent marketing strategy based on FOMO, as well as strong investors and community-focused revenue models. Furthermore, they quickly developed their income model. However, in the face of the vast user base of tech behemoths, it was only remembered as a special application for the quarantine period. From this vantage point, BeReal's chances of competition may also be low. Nonetheless, Gen Z is likely to keep the app alive.

@tugce_icozu The pandemic is an interesting point. BeReal isn't really fueled by a single, temporary event so maybe that's actually an indication its growth is as temporary.

Hi Sarah, thanks for bringing this app. You cannot do anything about copying features across platforms, it was always like this. But let's go back a second to the main thing about BeReal: are we really ready to post something whenever the alert comes out? I tried it a couple of times but most of the time you are either driving, in a meeting or unable to use it. What's the reason behind this in your opinion? Thanks for sharing.

@pezzin I honestly haven't been a user for the same reason. I get really annoyed by the notification and its often when I'm unavailable to post. You can always go back later... but I know know. Makes me wonder if it's really an age thing? Not sure about you but this makes me wonder if I would have loved when I was back in school and my twenties. In my 30s, I can't be bothered.

I've been loving BeReal but I'm scared that it's still too new to survive this. It's sad to think that new social media platforms will likely continue to struggle to survive in an ecosystem where the big ones (FB, IG, Snap, Twitter, TikTok) just steal their ideas and eat them up.
