"Culture eats strategy for breakfast" It's one of my favorite business quotes and I think it's so true. From my own experience - having worked at 3 Fortune 500 companies and currently in a start-up I could see that those with a clear company culture were outperforming their peers. Not only did people feel a greater sense of belonging, but they also had a clearer vision and principals to align actions to.

@jan_beisheim couldn't agree more. Companies with a strong company culture are successful because it helps build lasting relationships between every employee and the company.

Culture and core values are what determine how employees interact with each other, deal with issues with one another and celebrate successes.

@grant_ely, I completely agree with you. The organizational strategy shapes all the points you mentioned.

@ash_carey I agree, The culture dictates to employees how to behave, what is allowed and what is not, etc.

It does set a sense of team spirit and ownership. With out leader at helm who leads the culture by example productivity would come down fast.
