Engage actively in professional communities, online forums, and industry events to meet potential contacts, and follow up with meaningful conversations to build relationships. Additionally, leverage social media platforms like LinkedIn to showcase your expertise and connect with like-minded professionals globally.

Focus on delivering value first in your interactions, whether it's sharing useful information or providing support, as this builds trust and rapport. Regularly maintain contact through appropriate communication channels, such as emails or phone calls, to keep relationships active and beneficial.

I've been on LinkedIn for a decade now and while it's great, I've recently discovered how much more community driven Twitter is. Because of the way the algorithm works, you'll find yourself surrounded by a community within no time and it leads to much stronger relationships.

@danradnedge Interesting. You mean more authentic engagement on tweets etc? VS LinkedIn which is more formal and shallow maybe?

You're doing it right now :) Offline communication is the most effective way. I like to attend business breakfasts and conferences to establish contacts. Random coffee and activity in engaging communities also help well.

I have a very simple way which is to just give without being asked. If I see anything that can be good to someone I know, I'll just refer or give it to them. People may remember me or not, and they may do the same or not, but if I lose nothing in doing it, then there is no loss in it.

Give value for free. Have them on your Linkedin connections and create content on topics that might be of help. If you see something that might interest them, forward it.
