Should we require users to verify their email addresses, or not in order to reduce signup friction?

We're thinking about launching a free tool for entrepreneurs with the goal of building an audience for our Startup and we're wondering if we should require users to verify their email addresses first before giving them access, or NOT to reduce "signup friction"?

Only if it is a legal requirement in your country (double opt-in); if not, test it and see how not confirming works for you.

I would recommend to implement the email verification. You main goal is to build an audience so you need to make sure that your email won't bounce. Having valid email will also help you with the on-boarding. You can create some on-boarding sequence with training materials.
