How do you make your kids' career decisions & plans? What are the things you consider before making a decision? OR do you let them decide what's best for them?

My son is 3.5 and I believe in the Unschool movement letting him decide what he wants to learn and when. I'm quite liberal, my wife is more conventional. I feel I want my son to be able to do whatever he feels gives him the most happiness.
