Diet, frequent exercise, and sleep have the biggest impact on my mental wellbeing. I also give my brain some downtime where there's just silence and I'm not staring at my phone or watching TV or YouTube or anything like that.
Also, knowing what your social and emotional needs are and giving that enough time helps too.
I think a lot of it is on a case-by-base basis though, and just finding out what your personal limits are by not meeting your mental needs at one time or another. Then, being mindful and aware of that as you approach your limits. Maybe you'll be able to surpass those previous limits, just like physical capabilities get stronger, but maybe not.
Track and be mindful of it, otherwise you can't improve it. I take that approach with lots of things in life.
Even if you have no severe mental health issues, I think just having someone neutral to talk to like a therapist really helps. I'd recommend it for everyone as they can help better articulate your situation and sort of lighten the load.
Finding a routine, where one can process their current environment and all that entails is so important. For me, I spend 30 minutes stretching every morning, it's essentially a warmup for my workout but I use it to pay attention to which thoughts are presenting themselves, much like a fisherman, I scoop that thought out of the water and give it a good look, figuring out why its bubbling to the surface and how to handle it moving forward.
