Light vs Dark mode 😎

We at LeadDelta just launched Dark Mode and It sparked this question in me. What do I prefer more? I'd say it depends, most of my browser is in light mode, but the software is in dark mode. The exception is when one has a better-looking design compared to the other. I'd say for me the design plays a bigger role than if my eyes are going to burn up or not hah. What's your take on this?

funny i see this today. my main developer was just trying to convince me to ditch our light theme, as it adds extra work for colors. i just like a light theme as default, seems a lot more professionaal. but everyone loves dark theme and will always switch to that- we've gathered plenty feedback on it to make our default theme dark. i personally use dark as well because my eye sight has been diminishing lately, some type of astigmatism- which i recently learned a large percent of the population has something similar, and should be kept in mind when choosing colors for design

I use dark by default but I get the same feeling from using light mode as I got when I first started to use dark modes. Maybe there's no definite answer to this question :)

This has been a huge discussion between my and my colleague. He cannot stand dark mode. Looks like your survey will help me prove my point that it is more and more popular.

Oh. This is quite contrary to my opinion. I am a hard-core light mode lover. Didn't think dark mode would be so famous. Taking away a great cue for product building at Scalenut.

In my startup, dark mode has been de-prioritized due to unavailability of the data that proves its worth. In my opinion, dark UI is good for the UIs that control the system and change its property. Light UI is good for content consumption and content creation. (I really cant see myself blogging, leaving comments, and write descriptions on dark editor)

the dark mode is more intense for my eyes, so changed everything but IDE to light

Dark mode as it is more comfortable as it reduces eye strain

I mostly prefer light mode, especially for tools that I use on the job. I think that this happened because I tried out dark modes on a few of the tools and it wasn't as nice/clear, as the light theme. Hence, I haven't tried to switch after that. I do enjoy the dark modes on Google and YouTube, don't even remember the last time I saw them in light :)

I use light mode for 'work' related platforms and dark for everything else.

I prefer light mode. Don't know why but when I turn to dark mode, I get the feeling this is not a familiar place :)

@luka_vasic Correct but yesterday only I was doing the testing of the application and in mind suddenly it popped to check the application in the dark mode because in the morning only I read this discussion, so it helped me in testing :)

I feel like I don't see anything in the dark mode. So, light, light, light! β˜€οΈ
Why don't you go for the hybrid option so the user can switch between different modes?

Once you start using dark mode, there's no going back!

At vidon.ai we've only got a dark mode, but thats mainly because it seems to be the convention for video editors.
