Are you launching soon on Product Hunt? Got questions? I may have the answer, as I've spent lots of hours researching the topic and trying things out.
So ask and don't forget to tell me what's the product, so that I can support you with a comment, upvote or opinion.

How to find people who may be interested in my future launch/product?

@zaneta_siwik it may be a good idea to use the Search Product Hunt engine in the upper left corner and type in the specific keyword linked with your product, fx. for me it would be: project management tool. You will get a list of project management tools which have been launched. Check who upvoted the product - these people may be interested in your future launch.
@piotr_pawlowski true, thanks. Simple, but to bee honest - haven't thought about it this way. And how to contact them?
@zaneta_siwik try reaching out to them on Twitter - most of the time you can find their Twitter account details on their PH profile.
Hi @piotr_pawlowski, I'm wondering when is the best time for launching?
@natalia_jaros it's good to post your product on midnight PST + make sure it's not a holiday in the USA. + Remember about posting information about the launch on your SM.
What would be great benefits to offer to the PH community as a part of the launch? I'm currently thinking about how we at Y42 can do this.
@johannes_pittgens it's a full-stack data platform that anyone can run - right?
I think you should already share a freebie before the launch. Any kind of knowledge shared in a form that suits your target audience is always a good idea. Ebook? YouTube know how videos? Templates? If you already know who your target audience is, try to discover in what kind of topics they're interested in and create materials which will help them discover this chosen theme.
The day before you can announce a giveaway on your Facebook page (eg. share this FB post & upvote to get 5 months free).
And when it comes to the launch - maybe you can also come up with a discount for the PH community (for those who sign up 4-5 days after the launch)?
@piotr_pawlowski Interesting ideas - I'd be super happy to have a chat about this! Just got in touch via linkedin ;)
How to manage the Ship page and other Landing pages- kind of feels like duplicated effort and confusing....
@maxwellcdavis heard about this idea, but personally it doesn't sound convincing for me. (Maybe it can help with remarketing people who visited your PH landing page?)
I would rather think of adding a Product Hunt upvote button on your already existing sites. Here you can check how it works: http://www.yvoschaap.com/product...
@piotr_pawlowski well hence why I was asking the question :) But for me the ship page gives another place where people on PH can find us.
Of course when we are ready to launch we'll add that button! Thanks :)
@izabela2 When you're launching share this information on your social media, like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram. Also, you should mention it on your website and add the `Vote Button` to allow your site visitors to quickly vote for your Product Hunt submission (http://www.yvoschaap.com/product...). Make sure that you send emails to your clients to let them know you're launching.
I'm planning to launch my workout app on PH (https://athletium.app). Any recommendations for how to attract the correct audience that are interested in such an app?
@bjorn_moren when it comes to PH you should find people who are interested in products similar to yours. Follow them, start conversations, introduce them the benefits of your app and try to interest them. When it comes to launching itself, make sure your graphics, ad materials, copy fit the current trends in the fitness world (do your research!). When it comes to publishing your app in appstore - make sure you discovered the topic of appstore optimization.
Hi Piotr, we are planning to launch www.decklinks.com in March. Here are some of the tips I've received from others.
- Build an email list of all the supporters
- Launch later during the week
- Launch at Midnight PST time (not sure about this one as most of our supporters are in US and Canada on the ET )
- Get 100 upvotes within the first 1 hour (is that critical?)
- Run 2 campaigns, one for Europe, one for North America
- Have a dedicated person to answer all the questions from the PH community on the launch day.
Please share any other tips that you think will help us. Thank you!!!
@londonvi very useful tips, thanks for sharing :) I can add a few more:
- launch your product at 12 a.m - 2.a.m PST
- advertise your launch in your SM a week before
- contact the Product Hunt team if your product is not on the popular feed an hour after your launch. They'll reply immediately and let you know why.
