B2B: mass cold emailing prospects. Is it worth it? What are the risks?

Hello guys! I know there are some excellent marketing brains in this community so I thought I would ask this question. For business prospects, are mass cold email blasts worth it? Does anyone still do this? And, what are the risks associated with doing it. Can it harm your reputation as an email sender or get your domain blacklisted, etc.? I know it's against Sendgrid's terms of service for one. Very curious to hear your thoughts.

Hey Rosie :) I think it's worthwhile to test the water first. Take, for example, ten random contacts and try sending them the message. See if it works, if the value is clear, the CTA is outstanding, and your random target audience understands what you are trying to say... great feedback? Awesome! Go to your next 10 or 20. It's very general, of course. The point is, anything you'll do to the extreme is not healthy- just like in real life :) Mass cold emails can get you blacklisted and turn the incredible thing you were trying to achieve into a negative one. Good contacts are hard to find and have a limited attention span- use it wisely

@mayanpt thanks so much for your feedback! This is incredibly useful. I must say I was feeling luke-warm about the idea of just blasting 100's of email addresses without too much thought into it. Testing with a small subset first makes a lot of sense!
