Yesterday we launched Beams virtual event platform which become the 3d product of the day. Here is my short overview of the preparation and launching process on Product Hunt: what we tried and how I felt about it. (Final results and tips in detail will be shown later). Disclaimer: the results really depend on the product, all these tools can work better for you if the product is not as much specific. So, it’s ideally to try everything. Channels we tried: β€’ posts in the feed of communities on Facebook, LinkedIn, Telegram, Slack, Discord: seems to be one of the easiest ways to tell about the launch but actually a low conversation into upvote or comment. A little trick not to bother people: join chats long before, try to contribute and ask admins for permission to post. β€’ personal emails to the first 100 top hunters filtered by our topic (Events): it was the way how we found our Top Hunter Aditya (thank you again), and also meet some other great persons from this list β€’ PH widget on your website and posts on your social media: same as above: works well if you have many visitors β€’ direct communication with the people who have launched previously in Telegram, Facebook, Slack, Discord and Reddit. Approximate conversions into support for each channel: Telegram β€” 60% + but be authentic, not just copy and paste messages, you talk to people after all; Facebook β€” 19%: people check messages not so fast; Slack β€” depends on the channel but 8% on average (the highest conversion is 18% btw) that was a surprise for me because it seemed Slack should be actively used as well as Telegram. Discord and Reddit didn't give any results since they are kind of specific platforms and it's better to be their user for a long time to make any result there. However, I had a very small sample, maybe it will work for you if you prepare enough and try to contact a significant number of people. I also want to say sorry here to people who hate personal messages from strangers, hope you understand my pain:) and of course, you're always welcome to contact me if you need my support. β€’ personal messages to our friends (high conversion but makes sense only when you ask them to register some time before launch, otherwise votes from new accounts are not counted well) β€’ Twitter messages to top hunters from the list below #100 and active hunters from the discussions on PH, 8% conversion and, the best is useful feedback from people who know how everything works on PH. β€’ Product Hunt discussion with the announcement of our launch has started: got about 6 supportive people from there, maybe it would be better o start the discussion earlier and provide people with the useful content you could give as a specialist. It seems that is all. Sounds easy but in fact worth some (ok, a lot of) effort from the team. Many thanks again to all the people who supported us! Appreciate it A LOT. For those who still want to get a special offer ($59 instead of $299 for 3 months of hosting virtual events on Beams) you can support us here: https://www.producthunt.com/post...
