Its super easy to write with and publish, that is of you want a public journal of course. Otherwise a pen and paper is as cathartic as #%@×

Play (for Medium)

Listen to Medium Stories with a Chrome Extension

Play.ht (for Medium) is a Free Chrome Extension to Listen to any article on Medium as an Audio Narration.

Kunal Bhatia- Co-founder & Design Lead @SlidesUp
I use Play.ht for providing audio for my Medium readers. They are robotic voices, but it gets the job done and it's very easy to get started. You can even embed the player inside your own articles.
Niv Dror- VC at Shrug Capital
This seems like a very popular Chrome extension for listening to articles. Did well in the Product Hunt launch 😊
keyul- Maker of Quick Code & Bot Stash
I was going to recommend this when I saw the question. But you already did. This is definitely the best extension to listen to Medium articles.
Play
Play is an app that adds Audio Narrations to your Articles using automated voices and automatically adds an Embedded Audio Player in those articles for your readers to Listen and Subscribe! Is your blog on Medium? Check out How to Add Audio to Your Blog on Medium!
Play
Unlike reading that demand a reader's complete attention and focus, audio narrations come with the advantage of multitasking, allowing you to better engage for longer periods with your audience as the content is delivered in a way that's easy to consume.

Medium Series

A new type of story on Medium

John Ababseh- Epiphany Enthusiast
Medium has always paid attention to great UI/UX and their landing page is something I've always loved.
Digital Trends
Medium is adding a major new update to its mobile apps for iOS and Android in the form of serialized posts. The new "Series" feature lets users create mobile stories using text, images, photos, and GIFs, with video coming soon.
Engadget
However, Series sets itself apart with posts that don't disappear after 24 hours and actually evolve over time. Medium wants Series to tell "ongoing stories," which they hope posters will add to as the narrative develops.
WIRED
At some point in every technology's evolution, the world settles on its Right Way To Do Stuff. Having one broadly adopted system just makes life easier, since people don't have to learn a new language and dance routine every time they want to try something.

Medium Membership

$5/month for an ad-free experience with premium content

José Cortez- Software developer @Unbabel
Medium is currently my favorite product and I'm a super happy paid user. Not only does it provide the best experience for (quality) reading posts in the entire web but I completely agree with Ev's vision. The whole paradigm of attracting eyeballs just for attracting eyeballs' sake is not sustainable and does not necessarily promote quality content.
Kunal Bhatia- Co-founder & Design Lead @SlidesUp
I too started my Medium membership. I've switched from personal sites/blog solutions over the years. Medium has been the place I can point to without fail since June 13, 2013. Supporting them was a no-brainer.

You can even monetise certain content for your readers
The Verge
Medium has just launched its subscription service, which for $5 per month will give subscribers access to... something, eventually. At the moment, the service isn't offering subscribers much beyond the knowledge that their money is going directly to writers.
TechCrunch
Official platform of hot takes Medium has launched its new business model: paid subscriptions, which the company said it would debut sometime this quarter at Upfront Summit back in early February. Medium started the year with some tough times, including layoffs and a change in direction, so it's got a lot riding on these subscriptions attracting some...

Medium Publications

Launch your own publication with a custom domain

Kunal Bhatia- Co-founder & Design Lead @SlidesUp
I would consider a Medium publication with a custom domain. It's really easy to set up, and customizing it is a breeze. You can focus on the writing, editing, and curation while getting lots of new people to read your writing. I pay for Medium ($5/mo) given how good it is, but you can do it for free.
