I use this all the time. Bartender (listed on this page) hides most menu bars, but Caffeine I have visible in the menu bar. Very useful for presentations.

As long as you have a good wireless connection, I have never had problems with Send Anywhere in the past. Also, it works on Android and Windows (in addition to iOS and Mac). Plus, you can use the web interface if you don't want to install anything. The only thing to be aware of is that their is a 4GB file limit per transfer.
