With no Uber/Lyft, what are the best ridesharing apps for SXSW?

Uber and Lyft are still not operating in Austin this year... which means ridesharing alternatives are a must know before SXSW. Any recommendations? cc @chadwhitaker

    Ride Austin

I've heard good things about this app from friends who live in Austin and for each ride you request, Ride Austin donates to a local non-profit.

Yep! It's true; it is going to be a very interesting SXSW without Uber and Lyft roaming the streets. Being an avid Austin ride share user, I've tested all of the alternatives and instantly saw an opportunity to highlight the most reliable services and at the same time, aggregate their prices inside a single app. The great thing about ATXrides is that it not only shows you the price of a ride and provides a way to get a free/discounted ride via promo codes, but it also shows you where Uber and Lyft are still available in Austin. Disclaimer: I built this app, but many Austinites and Austin visitors have found it to be a helpful resource.

I'd say it's the most Uber-like, with a subpar overall UX but the same general concepts as Uber. I've used it pretty much exclusively on my monthly travel to Austin.

    Wingz

Pre-booked, affordable rides for you and your family

I saw a friend recommend Wingz earlier today. They only offer pre-scheduled trips, which can be useful for travel from the airport and parties that you know you're going to go to. Pro tip: Wingz and most other ride-sharing platforms have referral codes so keep a look out. πŸ˜€
