What is the best and not so hard on the wallet (free?) CRM? Why?

Looking for a CRM that's as good as Salesforce but without the salesforce price tag. (Asking for a friend) ;)

    Salesflare CRM

Simple yet powerful CRM for small businesses selling B2B

Salesflare is probably what you're looking for! It's an incredibly automated CRM - your address book is automatically filled and kept up-to-date. Interactions with prospects are automatically tracked in customer timelines. Automated to-dos and reminders make sure you act when you have to and don’t have prospects falling through the cracks. It can also integrate with 1000+ apps via Zapier. In a nutshell, Salesflare is simple, visual and intuitive - if you can send emails, you can use Salesflare. It works on desktop, mobile, tablet or even just from within your mailbox where it sits in a sidebar next to your emails.

Best free full featured CRM by far is Bitrix24. There are multiple 'why's' . First, free unlimited leads, contacts, companies, deals, quotes and invoices. Second, task and project management is included. Third, email marketing is free as well. Fourth , built in telephony. Fifth, amazing reporting. Sixth, social CRM part (called Open Channels) is extremely capable. See for yourself -
