Be less busy. Real-time messaging, archiving & search.

It's not only a productive real time messaging tool, but saves loads of your time on emails and helps to integrate between your project tools which is fancy as well.
I have been using it to handling the task with my co-worker at AeroLeads and I found it as a great real-time messaging option. You can also integrate it on your website which can create a live chat room between you and your customer.

Our team loves Slack. It's super easy to use and helps us organize conversations in different channels. My favorite part about Slack is that it integrates with many tools (including our own --> Fellow.app). I love using Slack + Fellow because while Slack enables instant communication, Fellow helps us keep track of in-person discussions and meeting takeaways (we can send the talking points and action items from Fellow through Slack, so it's a great combo!)

I'm a part of a ton of Slack communities but I'm active in only a handful.

Slack works to its fullest only when it is implemented in a team and everyone's supposed to use it for communication. Slack could/should improve on making the communities on it better by adding relevant features.

As a remote designer, this is a must have. I'm always contactable and available. Super easy way to also have quick calls and communicate with other team members on different teams.

Telegram offers a great range of integrations to make your workday a bit easier: Integrate GitHub, your emails or calendars. It's easy to setup your own integrations and I found it to be running faster and more smoothly than Slack for instance. Worthwhile to check it out!

In addition to having a large international user base, I find WhatsApp is good for dialogue between diverse teams that might have members client side and agency side. It's free, quick to set up and keeps a very good record of ongoing dialogue. We usually use at key project points to that don't require in-person presentations.

A virtual office for connecting with your remote co-workers

We stopped chat messaging and began voice chatting. Before we used Lito – as a remote team – we waited hours for replies on conversation threads on Slack. Most of the discussions on Slack interested only half of the people in the channels. Nevertheless, the other half followed up with the conversation in fear of missing out. That's why we moved most of our chats to Lito. What's better than having a real voice conversation?

I really appreciate the platform and I’m using it with my remote peers constantly. It kinda reminds me of Ventrilo or Teamspeak but for business, and everybody can enter with just one link, which is a really cool thing! :)

    Hangouts Chat by Google

    Intelligent team communication

I would say Hangouts Chat by Google is an awesome update for the old Hangouts (web-based). With tons of new features that help me and my team connect with third-party software like Trello, Asana... I feel like Hangouts @chat should have a spot on this list.
    • Aubron Wood

So I was extremely excited by the EAP, and the subsequent release, but both times I've found it extremely lacking. The windows app feels like an afterthought. Security key logins don't work, and it seems to just be chat.google.com running in a knockoff electron. It has an ugly stock windows toolbar that disrupts the UI, and once you arrive in the product things don't really improve. I can't talk to someone outside of my gsuite domain, and they can't be invited to rooms I've created. The site says that 'To help make your chat experience seamless, all your Chat conversations will sync with your classic Hangouts experience.', but that's either not working for me, or not a thing yet, as I can't get PM or group conversations in inbox. Add to that that I don't really buy in to every conversation being a thread (slack 'threads' tend to be the worst feature in their platform), and this ends up being a non-starter for us.

Recurring theme in gsuite: excitement followed by frustration at the little things. Can't use google home fully with gsuite accounts. The constant barrage of new chat solutions and early retirement of old ones. The announcement of a meeting telepresence solution, as long as anyone you ever want to invite uses chrome. It's hard to have faith in a GSuite solution anymore. The core remains strong, but the new individual products always seem to veer off short of being usable.

    • I don't know - I think Google has really a big problem whats important and what not. I don't see that I or any company will really use it, except when they use hangouts already. I moved any private stuff and especially work related stuff to slack or WhatsApp.

I would have welcomed if they would improve GoogleMail or would have improved hangouts in general for all users instead of making a half baked attempt with this.

    Open source, on-premises, Slack alternative

We swapped over from Slack to Mattermost for these 2 reasons. 1. It’s free 2. It’s on premise so 💯 secure.

It is not quite only a chat app, as it also has email integrated. So it has an added value, no need to switch between different apps or have many tabs open to get your communication flow going.😎
    • Loving the fact I can have one place to check my emails and messages. Obviously with this there are some advanced features still not there, but I can live with this given I now only have one place to search for all my stuff

Love how I can triage messages and emails in the same inbox. The files tab for every channel is a gem. Looping in a team is so powerful when I need help with my responses to clients. The bot is still under construction but he's getting some cool skills soon!

There are many chat software available in the market today. I have been using many team communication applications. I recently started using Clariti which appears to be quite interesting. https://clariti.app/why-clariti/ It is one of the best real-time application I've ever used for team and individual communication and that too both online and offline. Unlike Slack, there is no pressure on teammates to be present on chat every time the group chat happens. Users can catch up with their teammates, according to their convenience. This software also stores all your communication based on context, so that you can retrieve any information you want at a later date without any hiccups.

In China, many companies has used this. This product is terrible. No message sync. No multi-terminal login. No replay message. No file preview. No 3rd interface. But is the most popular work chat apps in China.

It has everything that is needed. What makes it clearly the best possible solution and my favourite is the fact that in almost every project group there is one or two "luddites" that are almost impossible to persuade to make an account in a new application. Fleep keeps them connected via their emails. By time they often make accounts and join the others.

Zulip is built by keeping productivity in mind. Each conversation in Zulip has a topic. This allows you to take part in more than one conversation at the same time. This also make catching up on conversations efficient as compared to cSlack, Mattermost etc where you have to scroll through hundreds or thousands of messages to figure out what is going on. Zulip is the most active open source chat application in GitHub and has 350+ contributors from all across the world.
