Not entirely sure if you meant to raise money or the steps before, but indiegogo or kickstarter are great sites to validate your projects and ideas and crowdsource funding.

It's not the best imo, I think Kickstarter is better but it was already mentioned. This would be the 2nd best. There are some criticisms of it though, particularly with Flex Funding where creators still get paid if their funding isn't reached. Also, the quality of products may not be as high as Kickstarter and probability of scams may be higher.
