When Tinder released its upgraded, pay-for-perks version to iOS users, it was an immediate success. Tinder Gold shot to the number one spot in the top-grossing iOS apps within a single day; even today, more than two weeks later, it's only dropped to number two.

There's a new feature on Tinder that's either creepy or the perfect innovation depending on how you view it. 'Places' will allow users to track down matches who have visited a particular location. That means if you're keen on women (or men) who go to your local coffee shop you'll be able to make your selection based on this.

Taffy is a dating/friending application that connects users to people around them - with one twist: Profile pics are blurry until you start a conversation. Our chat-first app let's you thumb through posts with blurry profile pics and catchy headlines. Pics are slow-revealed through active chat. The more you say, the more you see.

Seems this is picking up traction in the US and is spilling over to the UK. Theres a lot more detail in it, just not enough people for me to know if it's the best. But definitely worth a look-in as its quite different to other dating apps out there

Speed is of the essence in our modern age of fast-swipe online dating. So much so that the process of swiping, matching, and chatting can feel like a race to to that great (or not so great, depending) finish line we call a date.

The speediness of online dating apps is a virtue. Or is it? You swipe left. You swipe right. Suddenly, you've amassed a bajillion matches. You start a handful of chats. And inevitably, you wonder if you'll ever find someone whom you can have a meaningful conversation with.

A new breed of dating apps wants us to slow right down and stop judging based on appearances. Unlike the voyeurism and judging-fest that is Tinder, new dating apps Jigtalk and Appetence have slowed the pace right down. These apps are based around -shock- actually getting to know the other person before you judge their appearance.
