I started work on this about 2 weeks ago, it's a hybrid app for iphone and android, came together pretty well :)

I just dropped a tip at Philz on 399 Golden Gate Ave in San Francisco. :) @bnolan - where'd the idea come from and why make it anonymous?

Hey Ryan, thanks for posting this. :) I made it anonymous out of laziness basically, it was easier to not have a sign up screen than to have one. I'm thinking I'll offer usernames as an In-App-Purchase if I get enough traction.

That's an interesting decision. Are you seeding the app in specific locations? Or more generally, how do you get over that damn chicken-and-egg hurdle, @bnolan?

I'm going to analyse the data in aggregate to see which cities people are using the app in, and then do grass-roots marketing there (fiverr fliers, subreddits, local blogs). And focus on making the product better, since that's something that I have experience with and have control over :)

I'd suggest using x closest users until you get enough users. At least it won't look like a desert.

Do you need a network connection to use? Or is it using a mesh network?
