Junk the food is a mixed genre game containing quizzes, simulations and target games, its purpose it to have fun and learn about food.

I started this project to try and produce an educational game that was closer aesthetically and technically to retail games and to close the gap between the less educational "fun" games and the less fun "serious" games.

Development started in November 2013 but has been dropped and picked up numerous time due to not having the time to develop around work, if funded ill be able to start full time development on it and it will be finished mid 2015.

The video demonstrates the game in its earliest complete build the simulation section will be completely revamped in the final build.

You play as Egbert as he and his best friend Jerry must save their town from the new evil fast food parlour tainting their burgers with a virus turning everyone who eats them into insatiable zombies!

Armed with a fridge full of food you must team up and fight this evil with knowledge (and a good throw!).

The player will first learn about food and healthy eating habits, then go on to test this knowledge in a simulation then proceed to the end-game of throwing as much food as they have at the insatiable monsters to turn them back the normal.

The intention with this project will be once finished to allow anyone to access it through its own dedicated website, allowing kids at home, school or on the move to play it.

of the £5000 funding;

£2900 will go to office rent, £300 to website hosting, £150 for packaging at shipping costs, the rest will be spent of hiring a second programmer for a limited time to help speed along the finish date.

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter

While the prototype shown in the video demonstrates some of the systems intended for the final version of the game, everything in general will become more fleshed out and polished as time goes on.

The greatest challenge facing development is the technical optimization of the game so that it can run on as many PCs as possible to reach as many different people as it can.

Also mobile porting and cross platform porting will another sizeable challenge.
